Career background: Started in Toronto assisting with the PR for Imperial Tobacco, then Rothmans (where they delivered free cigarettes to us with the mail each morning – those were the days!). So to make amends, the last 20 years have been spent solely with non-profits; causes include blind and visually impaired people, animal welfare and homeless and runaway youth. 

Career aspirations: A leadership position with an organization that helps people

Greatest career challenge: Debating trappers on talk radio

Greatest career success: Launching a successful social media strategy for Covenant House that has increased donations and support for homeless youth

Biggest career mistake or regret: Responding to Metro Newspaper’s question as to whether Ryan Reynolds was as sexy in person as he was in the movies with “He’s a handsome man”; quote went world-wide in different languages. Too embarrassing for words.

Favourite PR/communications campaign: Obama 2008 and probably 2012 by the looks of things

PR role model: Too many to mention – anyone with their APR is someone whose advice I often seek out

Best career advice: Tell good stories with honesty
