What’s your name?
My name is Lorena Laurencelle.
Where are you studying and what’s the name of your program?
I studied public relations at Kwantlen Polytechic University. It was an intense but rewarding two years and I graduated this past April with a diploma.
What’s your average day like?
Everyday is completely different from the next but I’m always replying to emails, making phone calls and consistently posting to all the different social media platforms. That’s as average as it gets in the life of Lorena Laurencelle.
Are you an ‘early bird’ or ‘night owl’?
I’m definitely a night owl; creativity always seems to strike me at night.
What appeals to you most about working in PR?
I love being able to think “outside of the box” for a living.
What’s your dream job?
My dream job is definitely one where I get to tell the story of products, campaigns or organizations that I love.
What’s your favourite PR campaign?
I’m a huge fan of Coke Zero’s “Unlock the 007 in you” campaign. Members of the public were challenged to sprint their way through a busy train station, packed with obstacles, in order to win tickets to an exclusive Skyfall screening. If you haven’t watched the video of the live stunt, you must! It’s amazing.
Who is your PR idol?
I can’t just choose one, but all of my colleagues that I went to school with. They inspire me everyday.
What’s your favourite social network?
Twitter is my favourite social network; it’s my go-to place for news.
Which coffee shop are you most likely to frequent?
Café Medina, their lavender lattes are divine!
A fun fact about you:
I’m fascinated with tea – I love drinking it and learning about all its benefits. Ask me a question about tea and I’ll most likely have an answer for you. One day I will open a teashop here in Vancouver.
