Where are you studying and what’s the name of your program?

Public Relations Diploma Program - Kwantlen Polytechnic University.

Describe your average day:

On an average day I wake up and walk my dog. I have to get up early because I commute from Langley to Richmond for school. During my drive I usually listen to music or the news. It’s my quiet time because once I get to school I have to tune in right away! I’m at school most days from 9:30 until 5 or 6 o’clock. Once I get home I usually do something to wind down like watch a TV show or check my social media - and then homework starts!

Are you an ‘early bird’ or ‘night owl’? What helps you get your work done?

I am definitely not a fan of waking up early! I would consider myself a night owl. I usually get my work done by staying after school in the library. I keep my energy going and wait out the traffic I would normally hit on my commute home. I try and use every bit of my spare time to work on projects, even lunch breaks!

What appeals to you most about working in PR?

“Advertising is saying you’re good, PR is getting someone else to say you’re good.”

How would you describe yourself out of the following three categories; an organizer, a creative or a strategist?

I am definitely an organizer. All my work is colour coded and has a label on it. I like having a very clean and organized workspace. I keep my room very tidy, as well as my desk. I find it really helps to keep organized. I write everything down and I’m always the one that people come to if they’ve forgotten a due date!

What’s your dream job?

My dream job would be in the tourism industry. I really enjoy crisis communications but event planning is also my passion. I’m thinking my dream job would be working for a popular hotel chain or an airline.

Who is your PR idol?

My grandfather William E.S. Clancey.

What’s your favourite social network and why?

Instagram! I’m a makeup guru so I love to get ideas from the people I follow. Who can turn down a good filter?

Which media outlet do you use most to get your news?

I get a lot of my news from twitter. I also watch CNN and Global BC nightly. News 1130 is my on-the-go fix!

Where do you see yourself ten years from now?

I see myself somewhere that makes me happy. With a family and a job that I love. Possibly still in Vancouver, maybe not. I plan on being successful and giving my children a great life.

A fun fact about you:

My guilty pleasure is boating, or driving anything fast on the water. I got my boating license years before my driver’s license!
