Where are you studying and what’s the name of your program?
I am currently studying in the Public Relations program at Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
Describe your average day.
My average day involves waking up and getting ready for my classes at KPU. The night before I would have gathered all the materials and packed a quick meal that I will take with me the next day to class. During my classes I try to participate in discussions and actively take notes or jot down anything I may find useful. After my classes I usually grab a bite to eat with my classmates and then commute to work. Once I am back at home I like to unwind and ask my family how their day has been. Before sleeping I either go over what material I am expected to cover for class the next day or catch up with news around the world. Some days include spending time with my friends outside of university and watching the hours go by studying at the library.
Are you an ‘early bird’ or ‘night owl’? What helps you get your work done?
I am without a doubt a night owl. The times when I am most productive are usually passed midnight and creep on into the peak of dawn. A full stomach and a quiet environment, along with to-do lists, are what helps me get my work done.
What appeals to you most about working in PR?
Working in PR I would have the opportunity of meeting so many people and listening to each unique story that their lives have molded. What appeals to me most about PR is that I might get the privilege to share these stories with the public.
What’s your dream job?
My dream job would be to work in the tourism industry, hopefully in a tropical place, in the area of Public Relations or Communications.
What’s your favourite PR campaign?
My favourite PR campaign as of late is Tourism BC’s Giant Vending Machine used to celebrate Tourism BC’s ”100 BC Moments”.
Who is your PR idol?
Currently I do not have a PR idol. Since I am still a student in PR I hope to find several PR professionals that I can look up to and have an answer for this question in the near future.
What’s your favourite social network and why?
My favourite social network is YouTube. It is amazing to watch all the Youtuber’s projects and see their creations in video form. I am mainly subscribed to Youtubers who live in the UK and their videos give me an insight to how life is like for a human being in a completely different part of the world.
Which media outlet do you use most to get your news?
I mostly check online newspaper sites and tune in on the radio to get my news.
Where do you see yourself ten years from now?
Ten years from now I see myself leading a happy life knowing that I have made my family proud of what I have accomplished and having a relaxed, knowledge-enriched lifestyle.
A fun fact about you:
Something most people would not expect to know about me is that I actually work at a small German sausage deli and consequently know a lot about sausages, salamis, prosciuttos, cold cuts, cheeses, and the like. Some might call me a mini sausage connoisseur in the making!
