The Public Relations Knowledge (PRK)® exam is the first standardized public relations exam in Canada. It was launched in January 2013.
The PRK exam is designed for recent graduates from PR programs who want to demonstrate their knowledge as well as new PR professionals who have transitioned from other career areas.
Those who successfully complete the PRK exam bring tangible evidence of their knowledge and readiness for the workplace as they begin or build their career in public relations. This two hour exam is written online and comprises multiple choice, short answer and editing exercises. The bulk of the exam covers workplace readiness and strategic analysis. There is also some focus on general public relations history, theory and concepts, and the fundamentals of practice. A transcript containing the final grade and a grade for each section is provided to each participant.
The PRK exam is offered two times each year, typically in May or September in locations across Canada (including Vancouver and Victoria). The next Public Relations Knowledge (PRK)® exam will take place on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at locations across Canada (English exam) and on Saturday, November 5, 2016 in Montreal (French exam).
English exam: Wednesday, September 14, 2016, midnight PST (subject to availability of exam centre).
French exam: Wednesday, November 2, 2016.
