New Event: Introduction to Videography for Communicators

As communicators, we all use storytelling to help disseminate our client or organization’s message to help them reach their business goals. Are you curious to learn more about how to elevate the delivery through the art of videography?

In the current speed-of-light media landscape, being able to connect to your audience through meaningful video content is more important than ever. The way media is configured now, PR practitioners have the opportunity to tell stories through a variety of different video methods. Understanding not only the technical aspects, but also the strategic considerations when creating video is an essential part of the deployment of successful PR tactics.

Join us on February 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Vancouver Film School’s digital campus to learn how video can help you tell a compelling story. This event focuses on visual storytelling techniques for public relations practitioners.

Instructor Nida Fatima with the Vancouver Film School will take you through a variety of tactical approaches and best practices on how to share stories through video production. She will provide insight into the how-to’s of video production, including video project development, rules of cinematography, outputs for different platforms and more. 

Hosted at the esteemed and reputable Vancouver Film School Digital Design Campus, this is also a great opportunity to connect with your fellow CPRS Vancouver members and meet new colleagues, while expanding your video skills.

This workshop will cover:

  • Visual storytelling, narrative making using three act structure, creating a concept brief
  • Video project development, planning for a shoot, creating a shot list, location scouting and shoot schedule
  • Rules of cinematography, shot angles and sizes, compositional language
  • Outputs for different platforms, social media, web and TV
  • Resolution, frame size, codecs and compression

By the end of the session, you will:

  • Be able to create a concept and compelling narrative for your PR projects.
  • Know how to plan for a shoot, create production documents that include shot lists and schedules.
  • Know how to apply practices in cinematography to communicate your message effectively.
  • Have a clear understanding of resolution, types of files, size of files, and platforms for videos used in the industry.
