As in-coming President of CPRS Vancouver, I’m privileged to introduce our new Board of Directors for 2020-2021. They are all leaders in the public relations and communications industry who volunteer their time and expertise to ensure CPRS Vancouver is well-run, serves our members, and delivers high-quality programming and services. I’m proud to serve alongside them.
As we transition into the 2020-2021 season, I want to thank our Past President, Theodora Jean, for her leadership this past year. She has created great opportunities for additional member benefits and brought forward fresh new ideas for our board over the past year. I can’t thank her enough for her leadership.
As she passes on the torch in these strange pandemic times and we adjust to our new normal with COVID-19, things will continue to look a little different for us. But one thing I can guarantee won’t change is the dedication of your CPRS Vancouver board of your directors. We’re having more conversations about how we can adapt as a society to ensure we’re supporting all of you through these challenging times. How can we come together in unique ways to connect, to share, to learn, and to provide value to all of you?
Our latest blog series ‘Crisis Communications & Pandemic PR’ is a great example of how we’re being responsive to your needs during these times. These blogs include tips from our Leaders Network, many of whom are working in healthcare, like myself. We also heard from Laurie Dawkins, Vice President, Communications & Stakeholder Engagement at the Provincial Health Services Authority at our recent Annual General Meeting, who shared invaluable insights on how her team pivoted to support their organization through this challenging time. These are just some examples of the experts you’ll be hearing from in the future as we plan virtual events and professional development opportunities in the coming year.
I strongly believe that in times like this, connection is one of the most powerful tools we have. Let’s rely on each other, share best practices, learn from each other's successes, and where we could have done better. I look forward to connecting with you over the next year. If you have any feedback or ideas for the Board, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at any time. I can be reached by email at [email protected].
