Professional development should be part of your PIP, growth/development plan or personal plan. As communicators we need to be able to speak factually and confidently about matters pertaining not only to the practice of communications but to matters impacting the organization or business we work within.

When the results rolled in from Canada’s 2019 federal election, CPRS Vancouver convened a panel of experts to review the campaigns and analyze which strategies worked well, which ones fell a little flat and which ones were just flat-out bad.

The Unflushables campaign was originally launched in 2017 to remind Lower Mainland citizens about what can and cannot be flushed. It was an effort to help municipalities reduce the dollars (in the $100,000’s!) spent de-clogging regional pump stations and replacing damaged equipment annually.

Attendees heard from Grant Bastedo, the Principal of Takt Communications Agency, and the communications lead behind the scenes the most talked about crises in recent memory: the Humboldt Broncos tragedy.

Attendees had the opportunity to learn from Kathleen Reid, one of BC's top tech industry communicators and Founder of Switchboard PR Agency, about the challenges media relations professionals face in an era of fractured journalism.
